    Hey all..

I have a half decent gaming PC and for a while now I've been thinking to spending a little more cash on a water cooling system.

The truth is however I don't really need it, and it would be a bit of an extravigance but, I do like to tinker with the computer and water cooling is something that I've long considered getting into.

I've spent some time looking at several websites trying to decide weather to buy a kit or, to custom build a water system to my spec - problem is I'm still none the wiser LOL

Has anyone any experiences (positive or negative) with water cooling ?

What I'd like to do is cool the CPU, both GPU (crossfire) and the ram

Any suggestions on specs/companys to use/ etc would be most welcome

A friend of mine spent ages on a water cooling system for his computer a few years ago.

    It leaked.

Otherwise my experience with them is limited. To be honest I've never had a powerful enough system to warrant that degree of cooling power, and even then I'd probably just go for more (near-silent) fans rather than putting liquids anywhere near my motherboard.

Never used water cooling, do know a fair bit about hardware though.

My thoughts are: Don't jerry-rig a water system unless you are very confident, any leaks [now or in the future] would destroy your computer.

Have a look at the inside of your tower and check that it looks possible to get liquid coolant setup inside there (some manufacturers really mess up placement of components inside the tower).

See if any of those websites you've looked at contain forums - specialist help might be your best friend.

Probably a bad idea if your pc is not overheating now. Even if it is just get better air systems as even pro made water coolers will leak eventually. Or you could just immerse it in cooking oil.

I would recommend products from- http://www.dangerden.com/ - if your going to go through with it. I've always had good luck with 'em, but water cooling is one of those things you have to stay on top of as others have suggested.

If you live in a hard water area you'll get all the same problems you get with a kettle if you use water cooling. Which is very bad for a PC. They die if they over heat. Even just a little bit.

You can of course buy pre-bottled "coolant". Which is basically water with some anti-freeze. ... I think. Don't quote me.

I have a simple rule when it comes to computers. If you don't need it, don't buy it/install it.

I think the required cooling could be met with more fans, actually have you noticed how these fans can be mounted face to face so you in effect produce something resembling the air compressor section of a jet engine. If you got the clear plastic fans it would look very cool!

If however you are interested in a liquid cooling system maybe you could consider using Fluorinert liquid coolant.
