    Cambridge

Although I'm not sure about 'Cambride' (wherever that is!) Cambridge will not officially be sending any fighters to your Competition, as we already have the first event of our new Savate League coming up in March. Anyone who is any good at Savate kickboxing will be concentrating on that event and the League.

Anyone who comes to your competition are likely to have trained in Kickboxing in the past, and who probably have not done more than about 24 sessions of Savate. (Cambridge University only has three eight-week terms each year, and most Cambridge University Students seem incapable of attending more than one class a week anyway.) Anyone who enters from Cambridge University will, therefore, be entering off their own backs, and on their own account.

Can whoever goes post up results and a breakdown of key fights? I know a few people from Leeds going who I will ask, but it would be good to get the opinions of others.

    Oh really Pugil?

Soren Demin is NUMBER 4 in the world in savate and he is taking part in the southern inter uni event.
    So there you go!
A number 4 in the WORLD that makes him world class! and he is taking part in an area based event :)

Holly Mason competed on the world stage too , not bad eh?
She too will represent Cambridge uni!

They are the 2 best fighters at cambridge uni (sorens own words)
    Regards

    As their Savate intstructor...

As they both train occasionally in Savate under me, I ought to know a bit more about their Savate credentials than you do.

People can say what they like, but let's see how they do in just the British national league before we even start talking about "world class" shall we.

I took a so-called British and Eastern Area kickboxing champion to the final eliminations of the World Combat (full-contact) Savate Championships last year and the French Champion beat him inside a minute. That's the reality!

This discussion is now closed as far as I'm concerned.

    Answer the question Pugil
is the subject closed because your losing the discussion

    :D :D :D

Is soren Demin 4th best in the world or NOT ???
    :bang: :bang: :bang:

He came 4th in the world championships so please answer that.

Also why are you playing down soren demins and holly masons abilities?
Are you not proud of your students? or is it a "safety net" in case they dont perform well enough for your expectations

Soren and Holly train at Cambridge under Pugil's instruction in SAVATE.

The competition they are entering is one in KICKBOXING.

    There lies the difference

since savate people always beat up kickboxers easily then soren and holly should easily win the whole division.

    answer me the question:
Is Soren the 4th best in the world or not?

soren came fourth in the world UNIVERSITY championships

both Holly and Soren come from a thai boxing background rather than a Savate one, and both are good fighters.
definitely more thai than savateurs, full contact rather than light continuous at heart, and both should do well

    good luck to them both!

say hi and good luck to them both from dom if you see them

    correction screwi
both soren and holly come from a kickboxin as opposed to a thaiboxin background

holly has always had the heart anyway, soren demin though the last i saw of him his knowledge of thaiboxing could have been written on the back of a postage stamp

    Not Muay Thai

    Hi Screwi,

I think you'll find that both Soren and Holly come from some kind of Kickboxing background, rather than Muay Thai.

As for the first ever World University Championships (in Savate Assaut) held in Palais St Sauveur å Lille 1st - 4th July 2005 (which you also competed in and did very well), the full results can be found here: http://www.sport-u.com/2005/SAVATE.pdf

On an entirely different matter, it was a great weekend, don't you think? Thanks for your support. A wonderful opportunity to train with a former world champion, in both Savate, Full Contact and Kickboxing. Bit of a shame that neither Soren or Holly attended though. I would have thought that the training would have been invaluable - especially with a competition coming up and the new National Savate League about to start as well!
