Ubuntu annoyance.

So, I've got the desktop cube on my PC, but my laptop is being a pain.

But that's something different. My desktop switcher is limiting itself to two sections. I used to have 4, have tried to get them back but it won't let me. The settings will show 4, but only 2 will show on the taskbar. It's really annoying me now, and I want them back. I've tried changing the switcher, but it's not working. Help.

 

I presume you are using 8.04? Works fine on 7.10 here, perhaps you should report it as a bug if you can't find a solution on the ubuntu forums?

 

couldn't. may be a bug, but i could have sworn it worked at least once on hardy.

 

yep, it works on my desktop. can't see anything different in the settings.

 

Maybe a screen resolution conflict get on the forums and search about.

 

Screen resolution conflict? I'm using the one it recommends for my laptop.

 

And a new test user works. I'm not sure what's going on, and the only thing the forums suggest is creating a new Home folder and user

 

Solved by using "metacity --replace"
