I know this is not the Judo forum but just wondering how many jujitsu practioners here do Judo katas? My favorites are kimi no kata, katame no kata and nage no kata. Not very practical for fighting but great for feeling the traditional side of training.

    Traditional Jujutsu has waza (kata)

Most traditional Jujutsu I have practiced have kata. Kata was the main form of training for traditional schools. Kano's main contrabution I think was the focus on Randori over kata as the main form of practice. The system I study now has 118 waza (kata) for Shodan to Godan. In all there are some 400 kata to learn. I think you'll find also most Jujutsu people have either done or attended a judo class or two. Most modern school I have seen have training sets like Bjj instead of kata, but really its a pre arranged set of techniques so it's still kata.

    nice question.
