    Hey guys,

I'm a 15 year old boy who wants to learn BJJ/Gracie JJ.

The Zip Code in which i live in is 91108. It is next to south pasedena and in LA county.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any good BJJ or Gracie JJ or Judo schools in my area.

Also, the Gracie Academy is about 30 minutes away from my house. It is an OPTION although pretty far. Is this academy very good and is it worth it to drive an hour round trip?

How can i locate alternate schools?

    Any suggestions or help welcomed.

    Thanks!

Which Gracie Academy are you talking about? I go to the Rickson Gracie Academy in West LA. There's the Machado school in Old Town Pasadena. It's a BJJ school...

I was referrign to the Gracie Jiujitsu academy at gracieacademy.com

I didn't even know about the Rickson Gracie Academy.

Unfortuantely, they are both equally far away, at 30 minutes.

    Which one would you recommend?

I am still on the search for closer ones.

    Thanks.

That's a BJJ School. Roger Machado is a really good instructor. The school is small, but you'll like it. It's cheaper than the Gracie Academies too.

    Aight, cool.

Thanks a lot of the suggestion. And its much much closer. Do they happen to have a website with more information? Or should i just call?

I will definately look into it.

I'm obviously still open to suggestions, comments, and any help.

    Thanks so much.

    alister Huh?

Are you kidding - 30 minutes is no time or distance. Especially to train at Rickson's. Man, living in LA, wanting to learn BJJ - what are you waiting for - you've got THE MAN on your doorstep!

haha, indeed. i have no problem driving an hour round trip.

the problem is that i can't drive yet. as soon as i can learn, i'll see what i can do.

The problem is, i'm not sure how willing my parents are to drive me there 30 minutes, adn then they'd hafta wait one hour for me to finish adn then drive me back. that is 2 hours. and thats like 4 hours a week. I dont' think they'd like that.

But i'll see what i can do. But is Rickson's place that much better than Machados? Muachados is only 2 miles away.

Go to Machado's place until you can drive. Remember, you'll be driving on the 10 FWY...so, it's going to take you 1 hour with traffic...not 30 minutes.
