I had a very enjoyable training session in Brisbane on Wednesday night. A visiting instructor from Alabama, Suzuki sensei came to training and was kind enough to share some of his 30 years of experience with us. The night was basically application based and revolved around how to do techniques against larger and stronger opponents. While the techniques were not new to me (randori based goho, maki gote and maki otoshi), his method of application was interesting and different to other methods I have been shown over the years. Unfortunately the training session went too fast, it would have been nice to have more time to get to know him better.

It would be something I would like to do. There are a number of well respected branches in the US and Canada, visiting some of them would make a great holiday. At the moment though all my savings are going towards our next International Taikai in Indonesia, I haven’t had the opportunity to go to one since 1993.
