    Hi

I am going to Amsterdam for a holiday this week. It's a short trip, just one week, so I have realistic expectations.

I would like to know if anyone can point me in the direction of Silat Guru.

In particular in particular I am looking to learn about the cultural and spiritual aspects of Silat, and for ways to improve (as ever) my kembangan.

If I can find anyone in Amsterdam's Indonesian community, that would be fantastic

Any help humbly and gratfeully received.

    Salam Hormatnya

    Hi Mr Lobo

Thanks for your reply. I am not looking for someone to teach me anything from scratch, just looking for helping and guidance with my practice. I already include this in my practice, albeit at a very basic level.

I just think that if opportunites arise when you can learn something new, or gain a fresh perspective on something then its good to do that.

I am based in the east Midlands, I know you are in Luton. Perhaps one day we can meet up. Denominations aside I believe we're of the same faith.

    Regards
    Vinny

what style do you train in at the moment? if you tell me what styles interest you i'll see if i can recommend a style or teacher.

got my instructor program starting again later this year so think about that!
    regards

    Mas Tunngal Gerak,

What area of the East Midlands do you live in? I can perhaps put you in touch with someone:) Do you train in the UK or do you just want to know about perguruan in Amsterdam?

Pekir, who sometimes posts here, is from the Netherlands. I'm sure he will give you some information. Perhaps you could PM him. I'm sure he won't mind.

    your visit to Amsterdam

    Hi Tungal Gerak,

I'm from Amsterdam and if your schedule allows I'm happy to welcome you to the city of Amsterdam. This is the holiday season so I'm afraid there will not be to many schools training at this time. I expect most of them will start training within the next two to three weeks.

Just send me a PM and some specific question you have so I can prepare or decide if I can be of service.

I myself live in Amsterdam but teach in Breda (Southern Netherlands) I do occassionaly set up training in my appartment (old style approach :) ) I'm not a specialist in kembangan since our style has none, at least not in the respect that most people consider kembangan to be kembangan.

    So let me know...

    Hi Mas Pekir

Tried to PM you, but I could not see the link to do So. I am in a Amsterdam until Friday, staying 5 minutes walk from Leidesplein. If you can PM me I can tell you what I hope to learn - I know its a tall order for such a short stay. Even if we could meet for an hour for just meeting and talking, this to me is still training - even if if one thing you say improves my practice, then this shared wisdom is a gem. I thank you for taking the time to reply.

Hopfully, I will be ble to log on again from internet cafe!

    Terima kasih.

    Hi Vinny,

I think PMs can now only be sent after 50 posts on the forum.

    Hi Vinny,

I wasn't aware you couldn't reach me by PM so assumed that you didn't make it . On top of that I was taken out of circulation last week by rather painful back issues.... I' guessing Friday meant last week so maybe we can meet next time you are around.

    Regards,
    Patrick

    Hi Patrick

Thanks for the reply. Yes, back home now.

I know how the back can hold you back!I injured my back a few years ago while training and it took about a year before it was back to normal.

    Until nest time then,
