I was just wonderin'...Does anybody know if there are any Jeet Kune Do trainin' grounds in Alaska? Also, does anybody know where to find CHEAP Jeet Kune Do trainin' equipment? I'm tired of spendin' all my paychecks on just a few expensive items...
You mean like a cup, mouthguard and pair of gloves? Those are probably the most important Maybe some shin/instep pads... I don't think anyone knows what it is you are looking for.
Sorry guys. I meant like just equipment to help makin' it to learn easier...Anythin'!!! I guess I was a little vague...Sorry 'bout that...
http://martialarts.iisports.com/featprod.asp?stid=6 check that site for stuff. getting some kind of dummy might be good to practice on, ecspecially for throw and holds. dummies arent cheap though.
Basically you need 4 things.... 1. Sparring gear as already mentioned 2. Impact gear like mitts, thai pads, kick shield, heavy bag etc. 3. A raining partner 4. A qualified instructor with a verifiable JKD lineage No4 is going to be your problem I feel.
Same here Yoda...I have everythin' but number 4...Though, maybe I should get a dummy...I don't have one of those yet...I get the focus mitts tomorrow I think...
A dummy will be no use to you without someone to show you how to use it. Even then I think it's next to useless - I'm selling mine.
It's all down to what you get for your money - the outlay for a dummy will far outweigh the benefit to a novice without an instructor. You'd be better off spending the money on a power rack and a decent set of weights.
just go to the dojo and work out the best equipment for jeet kune do is a open mind thats willing to learn and to be dedicated just my opinion ---------------------------------- treu victory = self victory
Yeah a heavy bag will be of most importance along with a well connected JKD instructor (AKA lineage) ... in JKD we train to hit , train to stop the enemy at the gate. a punching bag is pretty versatile.
What does Yoda think to instructors courses By the way, Rick Young was amazing Saturday, in Kettering next weekend for the first IMB conference
