Doh, TKD is not a sport. I want to strap a bomb to my head

and comments like these are made by people who wouldn't have the balls to say it face to face but hide behind their computer keyboard instead.

    imo.

I was away for the world champs but i'd just like to congratulate one of my instructors Mr Ady Jones on getting gold in patterns. I think he would have done Moon Moo. Also who was Joseph Schembri fighting for Wales or Australia now that he lives in Oz?

is that fair? i mean, i would assume that an 8 year old would be stronger than a 5 year old. and besides i have never heard that height is the criteria.

Cadets and adults is categorised by weight. Juniors and pee-wee is often done on height, because strength doesnt vary to such a degree at the younger ages. You don't really get many iron pumping 8 year olds :D (apart from that scary kid who has spawned many threads on here  ). At that age they don't really have the strength to do a huge amount of damage.

when i saw 'semi-contact', i was surprised, because i thought it was WTF only, and then i saw ITF. what's the deal with that, WTF and ITF together?

    Info for you here: http://www.tkdi.biz/
As it says, TKDI is open to all stylists of TKD, so at a tournament there will be WTF and ITF styles gathering and in order to accomodate them both rule sets are provided. It's also nice for people to try different things e.g. ITF stylists trying WTF and vice-verca.

  12. Taliar

    Taliar Train harder!

Yep - The WTF side of the comp attracted some korean entries aswell.

TKDI the international organisation who ran the event, is not involved in 'political' differences and tries to promote TKD in all its forms. Member organisations from around the world can be either ITF or WTF based.

Think this is great and is certainly an excellent way to learn from a slightly different viewpoint, and knick all their good ideas :D

well, we all get different experiences from the world, funny how no-one mentioned the shamble when the computers crashed and messed everything up..my mate had to wait 6 hours before his fight, and 3 hours in between his first and second fight!
he won his first fight, then fought someone who kept HEADBUTTING him, and holding him as to hit the back of his head.
my mate rich is an excellent fighter and im not just saying that cos i know him. funny how 2 judges were the same nationality as the fighter and that they made the other guy win even though he was breaking the rules ridiculously.
my other mate Bashir was expeting some contact, even though it was semi, and got disqualified for excessive contect.
so one one side someone wins for playing dirty
on the other someone gets disqualified for excessive contact
thats some serious inconsistency. but im going to blame it on the fact that they were both unlucky, because things like that do happen in competitions and you never know who it will happen to...
what the hell is it with the picture of the person doin a pattern in a CAT outfit!?!?! how embarrassing!

Lol, I just saw that pic on the tagb site, complete with mask and everything! :D

  16. neryo_tkd

oh my god, i've neither seen or heard something like that before. a cat suit? :bang:

  17. Stewart

    Stewart Valued Member

The girl in the mask won the adult musical patterns - the style in essence was cat like, however her TKD techniques were superb.

I know what you mean about the consistency.

One of the fighters from our club (fighting with red band) received the result from the four corners as red, red, blue, red / blue. The referee called a draw and an extension.

2 fights later on the same area with the same ref one of the other fighters received the exact same decision and the referee called a win. Luckily for Scotland the second fighter went on to win, but had the results been the same we may have had 2 scottish fighters for the final.

But as you say, things like that are always going to happen. People never complain when the decision goes their way.

yes, you're right, but we'll see if the electronic protectors will change that.

I was wondering if it is the World Championships can you explain why there are 5 Dutch entires, 2 German 2 Canadian et cetera? Seems a lot of non UK countires entered as Schools and not nations to me - I can see there being an ITF and a WTF entry but 5 seperate associations for Holland??

  20. Stewart

    Stewart Valued Member

WTF style, it will probably make a difference. ITF will have to live with human referees and the inconsistencies that come along with that due to not using body protectors.
