This thread is just for people to post up any videos of TKD patterns they have come across, or video of themselves. I don't just mean those videos that you think are good performances; any video that you thnk is interesting would be good, especially if you explain why. I'd like to avoid criticising any of the videos posted so people feel free to flag up anything that has some interest, even if it isn't their particular cup of tea. Here's a performance of Yoo Sin I came across on Youtube. I thnk it's interesting as it shows an older style of performing ITF patterns. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3BvnSCtJg8"]Ge-Baek - YouTube[/ame] I posted the above link because, for some reason, I think Ge Baek looks and feels better done with the ITF sine-wave. And yes, I appreciate the irony of the patterns antichrist posting a positive comment about patterns.
Yes these show how much TKD evolved. The 1st Tul was from the 1st official ITF training films, that came out in the early 1970s on 35mm. The 2nd one is a champion from Poland, who demonstrates the TKD that it evolved into, left to us in 2002 by Gen Choi, after some 60+ years of work & development. Good contrast
Man I don't know how you can say that. I respect the person performing the pattern. He is very skilled. But I can't stand watching the unnatural and awkward movements sine movement creates. The old video looks much better to me. But then again I'm used to watching the patterns practiced that way so it is probably the case of beauty being in the eye of the beholder...
great idea for a thread, i love the performance in the linked PYONGWON http://www.facebook.com/friends/?ref=tn#/video/video.php?v=188794174527&ref=mf
One posted by madhoose on youtube. Some things I lke, some I don't, but interesting for how open and large the movements are. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hBSVyCmOZY"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hBSVyCmOZY[/ame] Mitch

Im not realy into team patterns but this version of Po-Eun i patricularly liked [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twAubgNIjqE&feature=related"]ITF World 2007 Ladies Argentina team pattern Po-Eun - YouTube[/ame]
Why? I love team patterns & I think it was 1 of the many things that ITF TKD gave to the world. I am not sure if they existed prior to the ITF making them part of their tournament rules. Can anyone weigh in on that? Team patterns highlight a part of the art in the martial art, imo
my dislike of them obably stems from having to referee mediocre team patterns over the years and yup theyve been around for years in one form or another pardon the pun
i came across this, what do u guys think? I thought it was pretty cool [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zoxSEFOnAQ8&NR=1"]Mr Slater - applications of Choong-Jang part 2 - YouTube[/ame] and fast time: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9Iydtw22jc&feature=related"]Mr Slater - applications of Choong-Jang part 3 - YouTube[/ame]
i think this one was less scrappy looking [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V91J7DL7_TE"]Choong-Moo Tul - YouTube[/ame]
Very interesting. Note how much sine wave is less pronounced when demonstrating application with partners? The other thing that is a pet peeve of mine is how hands for the knees start about chest level when doing the form without partners. Knee should go up to target not hands dragging target to knee (almost impossible unless you really have posture broken). Very good technique by the practitioner, btw.
See this is a perfect example of how & why SW is so misunderstood. SW is a part of a theory of how to increase power. It is a concept that helps a student learn to use more of the body when executing a technique. It is used for basic training in fundamental movements in isolation. Please compare it to learning how to fire a gun at a target range with all the principles needed & then comapre it to a combat shoot. 2 totally different things or scenarios
Some nice black belt performances in this tread, but... everybody had to make the first step once. Chon-Ji by an 8 years old white belt kid... [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSm0Va9Tpp0"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSm0Va9Tpp0[/ame] Enjoy
