    On a related note:
I've read about of 19th-century blacksmith's apprentices encountering serious health problems in later life as a result of all the hard, weight-bearing activity they did as a child. Does anybody know anything more about these claims, and whether they are substantiated or not?

I'd wager it probably came more from the fact that they were liable to drop some kind of heavy metal thing on something and break it. And since medicine was garbage back then, bam, lifelong injury.

Richard was also mentioned on the Martial Art Prodigies thread. Please read his interview on Howard Stern. Richard will turn 12 on April 15, 2004. I believe that he can’t lift more than twice his weight because of what had happened on Guinness. Since I’d tied my 11-year- old cousin almost 2 years ago, he’d confirmed that he can lift about 1.5 times his body weight. This cousin has a similar build to Richard’s. By the way, I’m shocked that anyone had suggested hurting Rich. After all, he has so much potential. Unfortunately, kids that age are pretty unpredictable, spontaneous, and hyperactive. I know this from being with some of my cousins. Also, I don’t like this time limit for editing my posts, though this is better than the Yahoo groups that don’t let this happen at all. At least we may change our fonts, colors, and sizes.

i don't think kids should be forced to have a childhood if they don't want to have one. if they are past childhood mentally they shouldn't be made to stay there by reactionary fascists who tell them they're 'doing what's best for them'.

Whilst i appreciate that this kid may well be the most adjusted, sensible, level headed person the world has ever seen, and that he may love every single nano second of his life doing the things he does, i just cannot get past the my initial gut reactions from seeing his photo's.

These gut reactions, amongst others, were freaky, sick, sad, appalling and scary.

Forgive me but one cannot help but think that this kid is probably Michael Jackson's pin-up.

Did anyone else who’d never met him ever exchange any email messages with him or participate in an online group about him while he’s a member? I have. I’d even corrected some grammatical and spelling errors on some pages that were previously on his Website and are now pictures for his fan club members. There were several Yahoo groups about him. However, they were all deleted for a strange reason, but there’s another forum about him. Unfortunately, I’m not sure if he participates or a parent pretends to be him. The pictures aren’t porn, but I think that this much publicity for someone so young has drawbacks. Look at Michael Jackson and Donny Osmond, for example. No matter how smart a child is, he can still be as spontaneous, unpredictable, impulsive, and hyperactive as any child. I should know because of some younger cousins a year or 2 older than he is. Legally, he needs a childhood for a few more years because very few jobs are available to him. I feel a little sorry for him. By the way, I see little point in subscribing to these forums when I can’t modify some of my older messages.

Why do you want to? If you say something in real life can you go back and change it later?

No, but the lack of ability to do that has contributed to many fights and other such misunderstandings.

I have nothing but respect for that kid. Going through all the training he has done and so on. Public school is CRAP, just pure crap. He is lucky to be homeschooled. When I was his age I would beg my mom to let me stay home because I was always picked on and beat up. He is lucky he hasn't been subjugated to violence and slandering at his age.

He has accomplished what most adults can't do. I couldn't dream to see any of my friends or me being able to bench even 50 lbs of weight at his age. Even at 15 I could barely bench 150 and now I can actually do 200 but (not so good yet). I think anyone saying bad things about him is just jealous that they weren't that dedicated and strong at his age.

Would I let/approve of this type of training (even at such a young age) HELL YES. If my child showed an interest in what I have dedicated my life to- GO FOR IT.

Personally no i'm not jealous of him at all.

I sincerely and genuinly hope that he has the best life anyone has ever had.

I'm just expressing my own opinion of my initial reaction to seeing his pictures, which I am perfectly entitled to do. It isnt for me. It is for him.

    Thats great.

Why do people get so jumpy over this little kid anyway?

Dont look at me, I was more set off by the fact that people were debating how they would fight him.

Aren't most of You a bit jealous? It is not so unusual for a kid to be that strong. There are many gifted people amongst us, but most of them never discover their abilities. I also could lift 90kgs in benchpressing when I was 13. What do you think, where does my nickname come from?:) I'll be 18 in 5days, and it didn't affect my health and growth, because I usually worked out with much lighter weights. Train smart, stay healthy. However, I have a bigger body fat ratio, because i wasn't on a strict diet, I like to eat in McDonalds:), and don't have a ballance like him. Most of us are gifted in one way or another, but it's rare to have so much talent in everything. I respect that kid very much, because I never had the patience and self-discipline to train and eat so strict.
