You will need to train how to get into clinch such as: - head lock, - under hook, - over hook, - arm wrap, - bear hug, - waist wrap, - single leg. - ... You will also need to train how to break a clinch. If you don't want your opponent to get a clinch on you, or if that clinch is not in your favor, you can use: - "捅(Tong) - shoulder pushing" on your opponent's shoulder to break the clinch. - "崩(Beng) - elbow cracking" to crack on your opponent's clinching arm. - "封(Feng) - waist pushing" to push on your opponent waist to remain distance. - "肘(Zhou) - elbow pressing" to press down on your opponent's clinch arm. - "夾(Jia) – wrist jamming" to jam your opponent's single neck tie. - "環(Huan) – neck surrounding" to wrap on your opponent's double neck tie. - "速(Su) – forehead pushing" to push on your opponent's forehead when he shoots in with head up. - "撳(Qin) - neck pressing" to push down on your opponent's neck when he shoots in with head down. - ...
Lindland's book is really good for wrestling-style clinch. Anderson's book and video are pretty good for the Thai-style clinch for MMA. Couture and Dan Henderson had clinch videos as part of a "How to Fight and Win" series several years ago. Karo Parisyan has a book and video series that shows Judo moves from the clinch. Mark Hatmaker has a pretty cheap book on the subject as well. But what is it you want to do with the clinch? Are you looking to strike or go for takedowns? Are you trying to avoid takedowns? Do you have a background in wrestling, Judo, or MT?
Randy's Train, fight, win series was really good, the special tactics disc was one of the best dirty boxing instructionals going. I don't think it's available any more though
I have a background in BJJ and Thai boxing both of which I continue to train. Just looking to develop my offensive wrestling (,which I train,) and like to have solid reading material for homework.
Well Greg's a senior instructor under Arjan Chai, a BJJ blackbelt under Pedro Sauer and has a strong background in college wrestling (full scholarship) and Greco, so seems like the perfect fit. You can also check out Wrestling for MMA with Greg and Erik Paulson.
Thanks for the excellent recommendations throughout the thread, mate Have ordered dirty boxing by lindland. Will perhaps invest in DVD material at a later date!
Although I've just looked on Amazon and it appears to be out of print??? Second hand for £75 (on the plus side apparently my copy of Cung Le's San Shou is now worth £70)
I've heard lindlands book is spot on, ill be getting it at somepoint myself. As your Manchester way, ASW has an open door policy, and has excellent wrestlers. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vzRDD3usFw"]Grapple Nation 1 Superfight - Kameron Atakuru VS Antony Jones - YouTube[/ame]
You know, in this last exchange it's not clear which book is now not available.... let alone where :' P Clarifications please! LFD
Although Couture's wrestling for fighting appears to be out of print too, but there are still a few reasonably priced second hand ones available. My bookshelf could be quite valuable in a year or two.
Someone stole my HB Ung's Pak Mei - 9 Step Push. I got it for like £10 and apparently going for over £50 (last time I looked). Its only like 50 pages long too. Pretty much a pamphlet.
