On a completely unrelated topic: I have observed that aggressive outrage based on inferred personal slights often stems from the projection of one's own personal insecurities. I think it's an extension of a Freudian idea, if I remember correctly, with the most successful solution being to "take a chill pill, dude", although I may be paraphrasing a little.
I've read various theads that you have posted in. Unless you can clarify your position more I doubt any of us will see why you feel wronged by Simon. I'll ask again why are you bothered about me being at the MAP meet? Seriously what if I am? What will you expect will happen? Like Simon says calm down it's only the Internet.
YOu can show me all the different variations on jujitsu that you know. Then I can compare the arts and show you the many similarities from other arts. I take it that you are not going that is a shame. It would have been an opportunity as I have made a personal goal of mastering 30 martial arts styles by the age of 70. After reading Dan Inosanto the teacher , the artist , the legend on kindle it has inspired me even more in the art of gung fu.
No I can't. Not being funny but it's just how it goes with what I do. No I'm not going, I have a number of other commitments that have to come first I'm afraid.
What are these claims what JKD is and is not? You are not even an original JKDist so how would you know anything about JKD?
I'm going to be honest here. I don't care. I'm was a 4th generation JKD student, not I'm not. I don't do JKD, I teach my own system. If it works, good. If it doesn't, then train harder. That's it, whatever your style. Move on, or as Bruce said, "walk on".
Despit his modesty othewise, yes Simon is a JKD guy and. he is and he has been training in it longer than you so you might want to wind your neck in. We have a common lineage through one Instructor You are throwing a lot of mud around and not a lot of it is sticking
o.k by the sound of it I thought you did just Karate. Who are you under? sorry I did not realize. Are you demonstrating your own progression?
Yeah it might sound lol but there are some good reasons for it. It's also a very old tradition which is something that needs to be taken into account both when studying it and teaching. While I have the OK to run a keikokai I personally don't feel that extends to showing material to people I don't know at something like the MAP meet.
The older the better what is it that you know? I want to learn it as well then. Were do you teach and train?
The Instructor? No he is Lee Banda recently promoted to "Master level" in Sep 2012 by Richard Bustillo Neither me or Simon train with Lee anymore but in JKD Simons pedigree is beyond reproach
Read this first. http://shutokukan.org/join_the_ryu.html No that's not me nor is it the school I study, it's just a handy article.
I have read it and favored it. but will fill out the form when the time is right. thanx again. is there anyone in LOndon who teaches this?
Absolut nonses Dan Inosanto is the only living JKD instructor under Lee and teaches the art the correct way. original JKD is Jun fan gung fu. Jun fan gung fu is the basis that you expand upon.
