Hello! I'm a complete noob to tai chi.Have alot of experience in lau gar, some in Hung gar and chi kung and still practicing ju jitsu. Have these two schools i'm interested in: East Winds http://www.eastwinds.co.uk 7 stars School http://www.7starstjq.co.uk/ I'm interested in all aspects of tai chi but especially its application (don't worry i know it takes years to become good ). That's why i've narrowed it down to these schools as the others in my area seem to practice with very little or no application of tehcnique. Which is all well and good just not exactly what i'm looking for. Gonna try both (ones not so great for travelling) but i wondered if anyone here had heard or trained with them and had any thoughts. Any help much appreciated, Thanks, Jamie
Hi Jamie I know the background of the Eastwinds school (the teacher's teacher) and from what I remember of them application is not a major factor in the training (at least not beyond basic form application) I'm not familar with the type of taichi from the other school - and never heard of "Taiji Cream Form" before but from the website it sounds more qigong / taoist orientated than anything else. Mind you I don't have any further suggestions as I don't know of any good schools in your area so I'll shut up now! cheers Rob
Thanks. Anybody have a suggestion for any good schools in scotland? (i'll be moving to a different area in the next few months currently in fife)
There's Charlie Gorries class in Glasgow... I'm just working on his website at the moment. PM me is you want contact details. There is Ian Camerons group in and around Edinburgh. http://www.five-winds.co.uk/ Both were good classes. The Bear.
Check out Dan Docherty's Wudang clubs (practical tai chi chuan) . There's one in glasgow i think.. and maybe more. Good all round ciriculum with them. http://www.taichichuan.co.uk/database/database.html or try here http://www.taichifinder.co.uk/local?osCsid=12dccd3c16a8dc4db01eb5b142c41acc
