Right guys, do any of you practice sacrifice throws? if so which ones and why. I'm partial to what I could only describe as Sutemi Hiza Guruma agaist larger, stronger opponets. Colin
You name it, I got it I have about 20 (the 15 on our site and a few extra). I gotta get over there. If it wasn't for all the flooding rain...
I try not to have favourites of anything (except chocolate) but Taware Gaeshi is pretty good... Like a guillotine/front strangulation then a back roll... Turns Uke's body and hangs him during the throw.
I'm kinda drilling a dropping Suki-nage just now. Drop the guy then flip into Gyaku Tate Shiho Gatame.
That reminds me of Rosie & Jim, them two that lived on a canal boat getting into exciting adventures. Much like you two only less painfull
hehe cool Freeform & Jim having fun! would I be right in guessing theres a few of us on here having the odd drink to comemorate the end of the week downhill from here i'm afraid
Bloody hell, go out for a few hours and look at what happens to the thread! Never heard of Rosie and Jim all to 'UK' for me. Anyway, can't touch whiskey... bad experieces as a teenager...
I guess that makes me Rosie then? Yoda, seeing how your here, you must have a few sacrifice throws in your repetoire. Just be careful you don't smash that bottle in your back pocket
Yeah - sure do. In fact most of what we consider "Takedowns2 as opposed to "Throws" falll into that category. We don't have any fancy Japanese names for them though. They come predominantly from Wrestling & Silat... Various double leg takedowns (My fave being the slide-by double) Various single leg takedowns High crotch singles Whizzers Body lock & props Arm weaves I suppose flying armbars & rolling knee bars would fit here too.
I would consider (and I know its a point of semantics) some of those to be 'takedowns followed through' although your still sacrificing your position. I was generally after throws using your own body weight for the momentum, but hey, I can adapt And whats a Whizzer? Colin
