First, I apologize for my English (I'm helping a translator).

I have some questions about Silat Seni Gayong:

    - The system / martial art can be practiced by people "who are not Muslims.

    - Silat Seni Gayong Is it appropriate for street self defense?

    - Silat Seni Gayong is it too traditional?

If you know something more about Silat Seni Gayong, please let me know.

    Sorry for my English.

    Thank you very much

Silat Seni Gayong can be practiced by anyone. I am not muslim and I learn Silat Seni Gayong.

Gayong is a more traditional martial art, unlike olahraga which is more sport Silat.

Gayong is used for Self defense. Any martial art can be used for street self defense, it's up to the student to use it though :)

If you are near a Silat Seni Gayong school, try it. If you like it, keep learning. If you don't like it, try something else. All martial arts are good, just find the right one for you. :)

    :)

I saw silat seni gayong and i was impressed by the level of skill of the instructors. Very nice stuff. I saw of compilation of silat material from malaysia and their demo was very crisp and sharp. The style is very popular from what i hear in malaysia. I really want to go train there. There is the one compilation dvd i saw and i recently saw another which featured alot of malay silat called village of the keris: the art of bun dai sara about silat.keris in southern thailand. the dvd is just coming out, great stuff if you are interested. i can send the link.
