Hey all, as I write this I am I dunno if this is just me...but After I do situps, I get like a friction burn on my lower back. So the next time I go to do some situps, I feel quite a bit of discomfort when I attempt!! Does anybody know how to stop this, or how to cure it perhaps? Maybe I should get a swissball, as I suppose that would stop it. Ta Muchly, Rob
A swiss ball is a great way forward - go for it! It also soudns liek you may be going too fast on your situps?
Are you swinging back and forth quickly or are doing them in a controlled manner? hopefully you are taking your time when doing them. I have not experienced that at all, in the gym or in class. The swiss ball is great for situps and crunches and should not give you any rugburning affect. Take your time when doing situps. Should be an up and down motion, not back and forth. Friction burns are not much fun!
Wot is the minimum/maximum number of crunches/situps a physically fit guy/gal in martial art s is supposed to be able to do?
No minimum and no maximum. It all depends on how well you do them, how slow etc. I can do 400+ really bad ones, but about 60-100 good ones. Thats probably around average though.
Yoda is right, get a swiss ball, lot safer way of ab training, also get the advantage of working the stabiliser muscles at the same time while you try and balance on the thing. Believe me if you do the technique right on a swiss ball you aint gonna be doin 60 of em!! Feeel the burn, on your abs and not your back!!
