撕(Si) - Tearing

    What do you Judo guys think about this strategy that you grab on your opponent's Gi (cross lapel) and start to run in circle? This will force your opponent to response in 2 different ways, either fight against you, or yield into you. In either cases, you have forced your opponent to make certain "commitment" that you may be able to do something about it.

    What's your opinion on this "set up"?

    Surely with arms out straight like that in tension your opponent will immediately know when you are changing direction and move with you or try their own pulling kumi kata test? As far as going in a circle goes we've used it to try setting up for shoulder throws by say pulling to the right and turn into the left (I think). The concept makes sense but doing it on another person is another thing

    That said, in a class vaccumm, almost anything is possible
