Military probes 'green' bullets News involving a project that supposedly made better for the environment by replacing lead bullets with ones comprised of Tungsten and Nylon. The goal? Prevent pollution of groundwater by not poisoning it via bullet metal. They have enough trouble as it is with refuse from Jet fuel, solvents, debris, etc. Hmm. Thoughts? I wouldn't have any doubts to the quote considering what military has always been about; defending/offending apparently divided masses of land using the most advantageous weapons possible. I'm kind of impressed that they bothered being somewhat pragmatic and doing this; but as stated in the article, there is much research to be done. Tungsten = lets lead seep faster through soil, apparently. Crazy stuff.
Not to worry though.. they'll just let everything be contaminated with the depleted uranium round. http://www.firearmsid.com/Feature Articles/Depleted Uranium/SilverBullet.htm
