Lyn Thompson makes some good stuff at the right price point. But he embodies the old movie line "If the Good Lord had not meant them to be sheared He would not have made them sheep." Near as I can tell most sarongs are simple cotton cloth. I've had a fair number that were imported from Indonesia especially for Silat players. Some of them were very nice, but you can get the same stuff in beautiful batik patterns by the bolt at a good fabric store and double stitch it on a cheap sewing machine. You'll have just as good fighting sarong. Heck, if you're a woman or a non-Muslim man you can get really topnotch silk ikat one for just a dollar or two more.

Some enterprising lad could combine two fads. Make them out of kevlar printed in US military digital desert camo...

Besides, it's really all fantasy. Unless you wear Silat costume every day the sarong is never going to be used. At most it's a training tool for the flexible weapons you would actually have on you.
