Hey I am currently recovering from a injury so bench press is out of the question at the moment but I do not want to loose to much muscle mass so I was think of trying out resistance band training instead to build up muscles strength.. is this a good idea.. how far can you go with resistance bands can you keep on using them or is there a point at which you need to then swap to doing weights? I want to slowly improve my strength and then go into weights.. not sure how long I would be doing resistance bands for.. Has anyone used them before? I have been looking around and what I have found so far are these resistance ones do you rekon these ones will be any help and would help me recover and build strength? Or can you get some that are different resistances or something at the moment though using my own body resistance is quite tiring enough thanks to this stupid injury in my shoulder... Help would be super! Thanks.

I used them for rehab (soft tissue injuries) from shoulder injuries and achilles tendon repair.

They were certainly useful and I believe enhanced my recovery. Don't know that I would use them long term, however the ones that you have suggested are certainly much more heavy duty than the new I had to use.

As always though - follow the recovery advice of the specialists treating you (you can challenge them to rethink / reconsider their advice), anything we say is ultimately irrelevant as we're not treating you.

Ah Thanks for your reply. You right I will see what a physio has to say before jumping right into training, hehe if you didn't mention that then I would have totally forgot to see one :D

In recovering from an achilles op (complete reattachment), I chased and hounded the physios, and challenged them at every juncture, to the extent that they altered their standard treatment regime.

I think that the difference was that I followed their every instruction, and was always looking for more (within their limits) this allowed them to see what was possible in terms of recovery when someone actually follows their instructions.
