i was in the boxing forum...and in a thread about jack johnson someone mentioned how rubin huricane carter was rail roaded by the system and how inspiring the movie was. well it didnt want to hijack the thread or steal any thunder from the great jack johnson. but the movie was the biggest sham in movie history. UNDERSTAND THAT MOVIES DONT HAVE TO BE HISTORICALLY ACURATE they have to sell tickets...and when a story is based on a true story it is often very loosly based i beg you to read this website...especally the where is says................... These 13 Graphics Reveal How The Movie Ignores the Truth http://www.graphicwitness.com/carter/ another one http://members.shaw.ca/cartermyths/ not to mention and since this is a martial arts site...maybe the worst offense. Joey Giardello won the fight against carter. in the movie he takes a bad beating by the "cane". only to have the the judges rob carter of his win. in reality not only did he not beat joey, it was not even close. joey had won, 14 of 18 expert give it to joey...and having seen the fight itself i have no clue who the 4 disenters saw carter never disputed the outcome ether. after the movie joey sued the movie producers and more then money he wanted a the fight tape included into the dvds to prove who won.
Yeah the movie was crap. I love how in the film Carter unloads this seven (or more) punch flurry on Giardello. If you watch the fight there wasn't one seven (or even six) punch flurry thrown the entire fight by Carter (or by Joey for that matter). Just another hollywood crock. You gotta wonder about people who actually believe what they watch on a film made for entertainment value.
