    Although I don't a 3rd kup is capable of teaching a club, I can see a slight problem with a diabetic instructor in their very late stages. Diabetes can destroy the nerves preventing any real fine motor control or feeling with the limbs as well as making the person go blind. But I really doubt they were that far along if he didn't mention that. Generally, having less than stellar health doesn't prevent one from teaching.

    precisely. our senior instructor died from throat cancer two years ago at aged 35. He was still giving instruction even though he would not be able to show the technique. Experience is the key with good instructors. The best swimming coach I ever had, was thrown in the pool on his birthday and had to be rescued because he couldnt swim.
