However when I have the money this is the Baby im Building: Duel Processor ATX MotherBoard, AMD3200 Processors, 64 Bit (Might as well get them even though no OS can use them as such) 1Gb RAM, maybe more ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, 512Mb WITH a DDR expansion slot to add more memory. 6 USB Ports, dual 160Gb HDs DVD-RW CDR-W 120Mb Floppy disk drive (1.44 gets me down a bit and nobody uses zip) 5:1 Sound Card with TV I/O port A special I/O system for one of the drive bays which has stuff to link in you know the ori cincert speakers, decks, radios etc. (A Mat e has one) a 17" TFT Silencer kitand supersilent Fans oh and a 42" Plasma Screen to put on my roof so i can dgo to bed and watch movies.
My ceiling Alex you flipping dos I can't remember the exact models so I oput down a random one. Some of the modern GFX cards have an expansion slot where you can put a single DDR strip in it to expand its memory.
Sweet, If you don't mind me asking what do you do? And Window Manager (i'll assume you use one for work) ?

I'm a programmer (mainly in Assembler), that's why i need the "firepower". I run what's called a LFS-system, it's Linux-From-Scratch. It's a system where you (the user) decide what you need / want, install it and compile it for YOUR SPECIFIC machine and system (cranks up the performance, compared to a "standard ready-to-go-system").
Oh I know what LFS is, but I never kept it for long. I meant what Window Manager you used, ie KDE, flux etc Slackware with flux (in the main) & KDE, and Ubuntu (which is soon to be replaced with Gentoo 05.1) with gnome for me. With your specs I expected you to work with Graphics/Movies, I wouldn't have thought you would need so much 'firepower' for coding in ASM.

I have a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo 1640 laptop: 60 GB HDD, 512 DDRAM, "cinema like" display. Not that much but it runs Corel and Photoshop with ease, not to mention all my web site creation software. Am not playing games on it (except for Arcanum)
Hmmm...lemmie see... AMD Athlon 3000 (2.2GHZ equivalent, though still runs at 3ghz clock speed you Intel zealots ) 1ghz RAM Radeon 9700 graphics card 120gb HD (manfuacturer escapes me ) So, fully Football Manager and SWAT 4-playable PC
I just found out that my new system is being delivered next Wednesday... cant wait! Athlon 64 Dual Core 4400+ 1GHz RAM 300GB Hard Drive GeForce 7800 GTX 19" TFT Monitor Oh yes
Congratulations, you are just about to possess more processing power than the sum of the entire worlds computing power thirty years ago.
