Hi, Does anybody know the order of popularity for Karate styles in the UK. I train Shukokai and was wondering where in the popularity list it ranks. Cheers.
Thanks Andy, But I was wondering is there is a list somewhere that shows the order of popularity 1st,2nd,3rd, etc of Karate Styles in the UK and also World. I'm just curious to know where Shukokai figures in the lists. Cheers.
Well, you could spend a bit of time on google, and if nothing turns up you could go around and find out...though that would take awhile.
Up here in cold Glasgow, Scotland i think (not sure) Shotokan is the biggest although there are quite a few ****o Ryu members (see link in my sig).
Ok, I have spent some time on google and come up with nowt. I have even sent an e-mail to EKGB and had the reply of 'We don't have that information'. Maybe it's just not available. Anyway, thanks for your posts.
JohnnyX Shukokai is a very popular style of Karate, in my opinion it maybe even the 4th or 5th most popular style in the UK, after Shotokan, Wado Ryu ,Goju Ryu and Kyokushinkai. Sorry if I offend anyone with this, it's just my opinion based on the number of clubs i've seen. In case you have not noticed from my avator I also do Shukokai Karate and i'm a member of the Shokokai Karate Association. There's loads of Shukokai sites around, some of my favorites are: http://www.nav.to/ska http://www.tska.co.uk/ http://www.samurai-karate-uk.co.uk/ http://www.ed.ac.uk/~shukokai/ http://www.shukokai-skf.com/
It's kind of funny how where I live, there are almost no karate schools around the area. There is only one Shotokan Karate school in a neighboring city. That truly sucks.
