It's always been more productive to point these people to existing discussions, rather than ridicule them.

If you have the time to ridicule someone, you also have the time to help them.

 

It's too bad that people take some perverse pleasure in the former

 

Its not newbies that annoy me, it's people who come out with the most ridiculous and ill informed statements and who remain absolutley convinced of their own opinion, even in the face of reasonable objections. I don't go around preying on the weak or anything

 

Kids, personal attacks and swearing aren't big and they aren't clever. They just mean that,

a) You've lost control of yourself.

b) You've lost control of the situation.

c) You don't have the mental capacity to back up your arguement.

Only thing that annoys me is when people say things like "Adam, you're a moron" without explainging WHY I'm a moron. Doesn't really make for a lot of constructive debate.
