Yes and the guy with damaged arm is 3rd dan in judo I think - just did not have enough time to breakfall.
From what I can remember he did not have enough time as the throw was a hard one - he is also an experienced grappler Judoka/Sombo fighter, with the speed of the throw I as the thrower dropped to one knee is shortens the time a person has to break fall out of it as he is then closer to the ground.
I'm constantly amazed when I watch high level judo that more people don't end up like that. I'm very impressed with how well you judo guys are trained in falling properly.
Injury Was it the worst injury you have witnessed in Judo? How did you step to the mat next time following this incident?
The worst I have seen in Judo is not bad stuff the odd ko or stunned person after a big throw. Thats about it really. My aproach to the matt after this was exactly the same as before the event. With a contact sport you have to expect things like this to happen when in competitions, the will to win is a key factor. In normal randori then its less importants and the training experience is more key.
As far as I know he is fine now and about 10 mins later he was laughing about it as he was full of adrenaline. Nice and good guy.
Remind me not to **** you off man . That is one brutal throw. Dont think many people would be able to breakfall with a throw that fast.
