Ive been using Opera (not 9) for a month. It continually crashes. I'll try v9 now but if it has the same problem its out the window (windows geddit!!) and back to firefox.
What is your system? RAM etc... Also Windows XP I assume. IF you don't have a lot of settings saved on it you should remove opera and begin 9 with a clean install. I can almost garentee that will solve the problem, especially if you installed service pack two after you had Opera on your computer.... (<---- that comes from experience)
XP SP2 user in here. No longer using that browser anymore. Very buggy. Doesn't render well with Gmail and numerous websites, its IMAP/POP e-mail server is pure garbage. Currently I am using Firefox again (which has improved tremendously in the last year) and K-Meleon. Both browsers are superior to Opera. BTW, Mozilla's Thunderbird supports IMAP and POP mail protocols, as well as HTML mail formatting. Excellent service. There are tutorials that explain how to set up T-Bird.
I've been using Opera about 6 years now I reckon. V9 does work with Gmail. It does not working with my Companies website, only IE does, which I blame the pinheads at the IT department for. I'm using Firefox right now, because I'm on the Hotel comp and using my portapp. But I love Opera. Couldn't surf without it.
Thats odd but i guess it is the same with IE. I never had bug problems with opera. Only thing I have problems with are sites made with frontpage and pages that rely way to heavily on javascript and flash. .... I hate those sites most the time anyway. I don't have problems with browser itself and I use Thunderbird for email so I don't use Operas email client. I have had nothing but trouble with IE. FireFox is cool to ... matter of fact I use both Opera and Firefox....I test my sites in all just to make sure they will work.
I am a full devotee to Firefox. Previously to Mozilla, and before that to Opera. They're all cool, really. I'm really looking forward to Opera for the Nintendo DS. Portable web surfing is something I've been missing terribly since I've traded in my PSP for a DS Lite. And with a REAL browser (Opera), I suppose it's going to be better than the embedded one Sony used (although it was probably one of the most fully-featured browser for a portable device).
Opera in my opinion is far far better than Firefox. I have been using it for about 2 months, after failing to get to grips with Firefox. Opera has never crashed with me, but the only floor it has is that if you are trying to add a picture when using Ebay, it doesnt support this feature, so I have to use the dreaded IE just to do this. :woo: Like all the skins that go with Opera aswell..personal favourite is the wood effect, very smooth
No, using IE is a serious security issue. That browser leaks viewed at any angle. Avoid it like the plague unless you have it set up fully secured and only for M$ updates. http://cybercoyote.org/security/browsers.shtml BTW, even if you use FFX, Opera or whatever you still need to secure IE, as it is part of Win OS. Nevertheless I no longer surf the net without my Sandboxie (or a router).
Cross your fingers that Sony is not going to stuff up as they did with the rootkit fiasco (discovered by security guru Mark Russinovitch) Personally I kept myself miles away from anything Sony related. They suck! Read this report: http://privacy.cs.cmu.edu/dataprivacy/incidents/sony/index.html
I liked Opera a tonne, the only issue I had was that Gmail and things don't understand it. I think thats been fixed, only reason I use mozilla is because various websites didn't know what opera was and wouldn't run.
