In pictures of Masters and their students you often see in a pic with only the two people, the student stood to the right of their Sifu, but in a group picture the student if seen on the left of the Sifu.

I was wondering if people know why this is.

First I've ever heard there being any importance to what side you stood, unless if in a group picture with students of varying seniority and thus the eldest stood closest and so on.

    Left or right

Those most respected on right , less on the left.

I.e a group photo, honoured guests on the right, with most senior students first, then students on the left. If it is a group student photo. Seniors in order of seniority, right, and so on

I know that it is very important in a picture of a master and his student ( I don't want to use disciple here, not yet) that the student will always stand on the right side of the master.

This is common as it shows the students place in the masters system.

I just wondered why this side moved in group pics.

    oh well................
