April 14 (evening) to April 19, 2020 Pretty much the same as before with 2 exceptions The evening of the 14th I I felt and heard a rather loud (audible to others around me) crack from the knee that was supposed to have surgery (right knee. It actually felt great the rest of the evening. Then the morning of the 15th i could hardly walk. Later that evening I was doing fine. April 19, 2020 Felt good so I decided to go for a short walk, 1 mile. About 2/3 of the way in the right knee started to let me know it was there. At about 3/4 of a mile the right knee had had enough. The left was also not happy. Had acupuncture on both knees. The morning of the 20th, left knee fine, right knee is only usable if I am using a cane. Slightly better now than it was, I can limb without a cane now, but it is not happy.
Been trying to maintain a workout, but the right knee and shin, the one that was suppose to have surgery last month, are making aerobic, taiji and anything else difficult. Even heavy bag work was hurting the knees What the workout has become Monday, Wednesday, Friday 2 days are 15 to 16 reps. 1 day is 2 sets of 12 reps Total Gym Rows, level 5 Cross Cable Row, Level 5 Seated surfer, Level 4 Twists, Level 4 Press, Level 4 Pill-ups, Level 4 Reverse curls, Level 4 Curls, Level 3 Chest flies, Level 3 Dumbbell, not heavy, but I am not pushing it due to arthritis in shoulders, Military Press, 15 lbs Curls, 15 lbs BowFlex, set to as high as it can go, not as impressive as it sounds, the power rods are rather old 2 days 1 set of 10, 1 day 1 set of 15 Pull downs overhand wide grip Pull downs overhand close grip Pull downs underhand close grip Pull downs behind the neck Pull downs under hand wide grip Aerobic Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday TotalGym set to 3 Rows, 50 reps Cross Cable rows, 50 reps Press, 30 reps Karate punch, 30 reps Simple shadow boxing, one step, forward and back, throwing about 10 of each punching set Right leg forward to start Jab/cross Karate punches Jab/Cross/Hook Jab/Cross/Hook/Upper cut Left leg forward to start Jab/cross Karate punches Jab/Cross/Hook Jab/Cross/Hook/Upper cut
Also doing a lot to thinking while working from home about what I need to do, and want to do, as I approach 60 and retirement only a few years later. I have been exercising more and watching my diet much more closely. I have been losing weight slowly and that will help the knees I need to get the left knee checked, I had surgery on that last June, but it has been a problem since the first snowstorm this past winter After that it is knee surgery on the right to fix the meniscus and the tibia fracture After that I want to continue with Taijiquan, my traditional Yang, the Cheng Manching form and learn Sun taijiquan. I also want to go back and see if I can get my Xingyiquan back too. Hopefully the knees will be able to handle Xingyiquan again, I miss Xingyiquan. Also really REALLY want to get back to the push hands group. Don't mind me, just an old guy trying to write out some goals
Wednesday 06, 2020 Still doing the above routine, but I was missing the little bit of Yoga I was doing, and I was neglecting core, that my knees stopped me from doing. This is the yoga routine I came up with, nothing overly strenuous and easy on the knees Meditation (Breathing) 2 to 5 minutes Mountain Standing Half Forward Bend Bridge Halfmoon pose Downward Facing Dog Plank Dolphin Plank Upward Facing Dog Plank Downward Dog Staff Upward Plank Crunches Bridge Boat Pose Bridge Savasana Discovered I cannot do my heavy bag work, it apparently has a negative impact on my knees at the moment
MRI Friday on knee that had surgery last June (left) to see what the problem is, and for the first time I hope it is simply arthritis and the MD wants to do the surgery on the right knee next week to fix the meniscus and tibia fracture. So next week, surgery

May 20, 2020 surgery done and they said it wold hurt more than the other knee because of the tibia fracture repair.....they didn't lie.....oxycodone/acetaminophen is not touching it Methinks training on hold for awhile
More training postponement in my future. It appears the left knee has another meniscus tear. Right gets better , left gets worse. I will know more about what needs to be done the end of next month Physical therapy for the right starts next week
