Currently collecting Traditional Kung Fu movies. So far I've got: Kung Fu Master Killer Fist Of Fury Enter The Dragon The Venoms Avenging Warriors Drunken Master The Shaolin Temple (Forgot name) By ShawBrothers. It's a movie about Japanese martial artists traveling to China to challenge a chinese Kung Fu practitioner. *Note that not all of the movies I listed are Old movies. I'd appreciate any suggestions for what to get next. I'd be even more greatful if any of you know of any other OLD Kung Fu movies that are either in Chinese or better yet have crummy english translations .
I'd reccomend The Chinese Connection. Bruce Lee gets ****ed off and keeps beating people to death. It's beautiful.
re: There are so many to choose from. If I were you, get a multi-region dvd player (either a "chipped" one or a "remote hackable" one) and get the IVL/Celestial region 3 dvd releases. They are fantastic. Only problem (for some people) is NO dubs. Try These : Martial arts Of Shaolin 8 Diagram Pole Fighter Challenge Of The Masters Martial Club The Master (aka 3 Evil Masters) Invincible Shaolin Crippled avengers and these non Shaws dvds : The Loot The Victim Encounters Of The Spooky Kind 7 Grandmasters Mystery Of Chessboxing
for shaw bro's i highly suggest 36 CHAMBERS, though it's hard to find the full movie in america, it seems like there is missing footage/clips in the ones i have watched, also i have heard that THE 5 DEADLY VENOMS is a kung fu classic, so check those out
Thanks for all your help. I will look into them . **By the way I just remembered. There used to be a Kung Fu series that played on the television. I don't know much about this series but when I went on vacation to Portugal it was playing. It looked like it was made around anywhere from the early 80's to late 80's. It was in color and had these cheesy english translations. My grandfather watched it everyday without understanding a word . Any clues? Thanks, Vick.
Fearless Hyena is marginally better than Drunken Master, and is the best oldstyle Jackie Chan film. I also love The Hand of Death. It's a poignant film but builds well to a crescendo. If anyone has "Kung Fu vs Yoga", I want a copy. Rgds, David
"Bodyguard from China", or something like that, by Jet Li... probably not as old as the other one's, but it is the first Jet Li movie that I sees.
Last Hurrah for Chivalry there was a listing of "top 20 martial arts films" in one of the Black Belt mags from 2005, although there are some modern ones thrown in there, it focused on the older gneration kung fu films, I don't have it with me, but maybe someone else does.
try SuperStrangeVideo.com, although I should warn you he is selling DVD-R's with questionable licensing... that is, probably pirated.
Hey cool thread idea...I have: Big Trouble in Little China Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (probably my favorite of all the ones I own) Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story Enter The Dragon Fist Of Legend Kickboxer Kill Bill 1 Kill Bill 2 The Last Samurai I think thats it.
Isn't Kungfu MasterKiller the same as the 36 Chambers? Anyway, Prodigal Son is a must. Not only is it cool, but it has some really top class terrible dubbing too: Always remember the deadly points; the eyes, (strikes and stops at the student's eyes), the throat (strikes and stops at the student's throat), THE KNACKERS (voice suddenly goes deep and meaningful as he strikes and stops... somewhere else!) And then there's Shaolin Assasinators which I think is the same as Executioners from Shaolin about the fight between the originators of wing chun and pak mei and the birth of hung gar. Utter pish, but well entertaining!
You have insulted my family and the Shaolin Temple and... its cat... and you must die! :woo: Oh OK then, you mentioned Big Trouble in Little China so you can be forgiven!
Last Samurai has nothing to do with Kung-Fu movies although it is a very great film. They have done a good job explaining the Samurai's Way of Life. I like the suggestions so far. Keep 'em coming!

I'm trying to think of the name...
This link can direct you to a bunch of movies. http://us.yesasia.com/assocred.asp?HY5823EJ+http://us.yesasia.com One of my favorites is "Seven Samurai". It's Japanese, but I still enjoy it. I'm ashamed of how many I have. Many of them are very poor. FYI- 36 Chambers of Shaolin and Shaolin Master Killer is the same movie. M. Yoder
