    What is the oldest book you have? (Martial Art and Non-Martial Art)

    What are your top 12 Martial Art books?

    Bought a book on boxing from a used book store that was first printed in 1938. Besides that, I got Mas Oyama's What is Karate? through my university, I believe that was printed in '63.

    Top 12? I wish I was home to look, but off the top of my head for martial arts books only (not other stuff) not in order:
    1. ITF 15 volume encyclopedia
    2. Book of Five Rings
    3. Mas Oyama's Essential Karate
    4. A Killing Art (taekwondo history book)
    5. Sabaki Method: Karate in the Inner Circle (this one is interesting, and different from many of my books in that it gives strategies)
    6. What is Karate - Oyama (I love this guys stuff)

    I know thats not 12 but the rest of the books are really just for fun. I enjoy reading them even if I don't use them in any practical sense. Got lots of books on weightlifting and strength training, but you didn't ask for those, so I won't list my favorites.

    What are you favorites?

    I have so many, that I could not list favorites.

    I could list thus;

    Most books from the Tuttle Publishing, as they seem to look for quality

    Most books from authors such as;

    Higoanna Morio
    Motobu Choki
    Jigorō Kanō
    Funakoshi Gichin
    Seikichi Toguchi
    Nagamine Shoshin
    Mas Oyama
    Choi Hong Hi
    Dr He-Young Kimm
    Kensho Furuya
    Patrick McCarthy
    Mark Bishop
    Marc Tedeschi
    Oscar Ratti
    Bruce Tegner (although a Jack of All Trades-interesting reading in a time upon few books)

    My oldest book:
    The Central Conception of Buddhism

    My Prized Martial Art Book;
    Chinese Gung Fu: The Philosophical Art of Self-Defense-FIRST Edition

    But, I am always collecting books

    Nice~ !
    I'm a big fan of books in printed form. No matter how many PDF's and books on tape and whatever else I have (1TB's worth at this point!) I still enjoy a properly bound book! I'll have to make up a list of nice finds this year...

    and yes I really enjoy most anything by Tuttle... very good publishing house for all things Japanese - but written in English!

    Tuttle seems to know what to look for.

    Every once in awhile, they release something non-quality
