Here's little something for Stolenbjorn, Langenschwert, and Cudgel: 1. An article on Vikings bashing each other with real swords. http://www.icelandreview.com/icelandreview/daily_news/?cat_id=16539&ew_0_a_id=250097 - AND - 2. The home page for the Viking Reenactment group "Rimmugygur" (but the webpage is written in whatever-the-heck-it-is-they-speak-in-Iceland, and I don't think 'Babelfish' has a translater online for that yet) http://www.rimmugygur.is/ Merry Christmas!
Thanks for the christmas-present I could try to translate the icelandic for you, det er ikke så forskjellig fra Norsk The dudes probably practice what we call re-enactment, using rules that requires roughly 3mm thick edge on unbreakable modern replicas, and with hand-protection as the only safety-requirement. As a thanks, I can provide a christmas-gift to you; 3 of my friend in truely christmas-weather! Their equipment is 13 century stuff; from the time most of the viking-litterature was written (that is 200 years after the viking-time ) http://www.kongshirden.no/gallerier/trening/vinter06/06posing2.jpg -Here's another pic; with me in the yellow bamberson: http://www.friknektene.no/Bilder/halden06/images/DSC_0086.jpg
