New weapon

I've been absent for a while, mainly due to not doing much in the way of martial arts (though I have at least maintained my archery practice). Having a little more free time now I thought I'd jump back into the community, give a quick update about latest news, and warn people that I'll probably be poking at the philosophy forums again soon. :)

So on latest news, still doing the archery practice, still not back into any other regular martial arts practice, cycling a lot more and taking ownership of four beehives tonight. If all goes to plan then I won't be stung to death, and will be back tomorrow to poke around and find my feet again.

The weapon reference of course is related to trained attack bees.

Attack bees you say. You must be buzzing with excitement.

Yep, we've had a lot of different ideas all cross-pollinating. Currently the plan is to wing it, though I don't want to drone on in too much detail.

How much does a beehive cost? I hope you didn't get stung!

Anywhere from £150 upwards, unless you put your own together. That doesn't include the cost of the bees, or the starter wax. We've been lucky in getting two hives for less than £200 apiece, including bees.

I've been stung a few times, so at least I know I'm not allergic which makes things easier.

They hardly qualify as serious killer bees since you are not dead... ;)

They are attack bees. A whole army of attack bees. Edit: They also play Charlie don't surf by "The Clash" when attacking.

They're only beginning their training, give them a chance.

Three of the hives are in place now, and we should be picking up the last within the next few weeks. Only one sting during the move, though we did have some very grumpy bees at 1am this morning when we were finishing off placing them.

Anyone interested is welcome to follow along with our blog, at http://oldboarsapiary.info - we're logging the whole process there.

How do you get them to wear the laser on their heads?

Offer them marshmallows. They're easily bribed.

You just need to learn to have pun.
