Hey everyone! Have been looking at numerous of martial arts that I'm interested in studying and Kenpo is one of them. Haven't check to see if there are any schools around my area, but I never have like standing in class with 20 plus students and 1 teacher. Am just wondering what are some of the basic training techniques for beginners in Kenpo.
Our beginners start with basic blocks, stances, strikes, kicks and get right into grappling, since that (i.e. self defence) is a big part of why people start. We also do some club techniques and defence against punches. The next belt level adds to all of this and also starts some forms. Hopes this helps. The style is not as important on the whole as the instructor.
thanks alot sir. are there any books you recommend for beginners that are getting started (and self teaching)?
Well books are not the way anymore, Go to you-tube and take what you want.. You will have the forms demo's, the techniques etc In fact i recommend you do this- Search for Kenpo and choose the channel named "True2Kenpo". Good Luck
start with this, and practice at home. www.kempoinfo.com alot of history, videos, and forms/techniques.:woo:
