New Guy Looking to Learn

Hey all, I've been interested in martial arts for a good few years now. I grew up in a pretty poor area, where there weren't many opportunities to pursue this path, so most of my skills (of which there are not many!) have been learnt through fighting as a kid.

I'm here to learn from those with more experience than myself. I'm passionate about boxing and ninjitsu, so I hope I can learn more on here.

I live in the Halifax area, West Yorkshire, England and am looking for somewhere to begin training around this region.

I also practise a Western Martial Arts known as Physis.

 

personally i think physics is way more interesting.

The only "physis" that I'm familiar with was actually an Aristotelian, non-mathematically-based philosophy of physics, IIRC.

How can the study of any particular MA be considered racist ( or fascist, socialist, libertarian, etc ) in and of itself?

Was it a legitimate art that found itself co-opted by a group or individuals of notoriety and thus associated exclusively with that group or individual(s)?

I chose not to google the term but would rather hear from the OP themselves on the matter.

I wish I hadn't - it represents everything foul and repellant in the world and if the OP is indeed an advocate I already despise him.

Of course he could be a dupe in which case I hope he stays around to see how malodorous this "art"...and I use the term loosely .. .actually is

From the concepts mentioned on the main google hit for Physis it is apparently a modern interpretation of the 1930s Nazi body culture with some basic self-defence stuff mixed in. The racism is of the "folkish" variety, emphasising the need to belong wholly to a community in order to practice the art. If you are constantly being told who "the enemy" is and given a grounding in national socialism and the need to strive for a new Nazi Galactic Imperium (I kid you not!) then I would call it racist. A kick or punch is not in itself racist but the intention of that kick or punch certainly can be.

However, many groups like this keep the overtly racist elements to the inner circle and it may not be readily apparent to the newcomers so I will reserve my welcome to Mr O'Morain until we hear his side of the story.

 

If you Google 'physis' then the top of the search is purely some kind of physiotherapy system of that name. But if you search on 'physis martial art' then you find links referencing what the OP was referring to.

Be warned: you will find links to vile neo-Nazi and 'white supremacist' sites.

 

First off, I will welcome you to MAP as I do with others as a matter of general courtesy.

Second:

I'm not going to pass judgement on you as a person because I don't know your connection to this, how you relate to it, if you support it (etc).

But if this is accurate to what you are referring to (it's possible we all simply have the wrong link), then it certainly doesn't seem too promising.

Do you feel able to provide us with some more context?

EDIT: Also, my browser refuses to recognise "physis". It keeps insisting on "physics". So I get lots and lots of lovely diagrams of karate kicks .

I'd like to give the OP the benefit of the doubt but the racism and white supremacism is so obvious and easy to find I can't.

 

So i've been a googling, and dumb (obviously because they have to be) white supremacists arguing about whether vaccines are essential for the new race wars, or a Jewish conspiracy, is really really really funny.

 

Is there anything at all that these nutjobs can't convince themselves is really a 'Jewish conspiracy'?

 

I hope the OP know's that Ninjutsu is Japanese and the oldest records of Boxing as a sport go back to Sumer (Iraq).

So reading the BIG racist website forumfrom the initial search, I'm amazed at how poor the education level is, and how many do ''ninjitsu'' I blame the Batman movie myself.
