Just rewatched this movie tonight and I have to say that it is still a pretty solid movie and has aged really well. If you haven't seen it I recommend checking it out. It's basically an MMA version of The Karate Kid.
I actually liked Redbelt. It pushed all the stereotypical MA film tropes hard. Although, got a bit self-over-complicated with the plot (especially with his Mrs' story arc). The only thing I didn't like was what occurred eventually with his student.
Never Back Down 2 is also great! Like all martial arts films it's basically nonsense but done very well.
My favorite martial arts movie is American samurai, its as if "best of the best" was competed with swords. 80's tastic!
I really like Forbidden Kingdom with Jackie Chan and Jet Li. Very silly but some great lines. "Horse stance? Good for taking a dump!" Forbidden Kingdom IMDB Forbidden Kingdom
I loved AS up until the final Bradley/Dacascos fight scene, as what was meant to be a quick 2-3 attack/counterattack scene, before the death blow was delivered, was later drawn out in post production. (They re-edited it to insert lots of close up blade clashes, that had previously been seen in earlier bouts, because the execs felt that the final cut wasn't epic enough) I personally think a quicker display of skill and execution would have been better. ^ yes, you could tell from the red handle Sash that suddenly appeared out of nowhere, recycled from the wushu stylist's fight. The cowboy guys first fight was one of my favorites, throws Bowie into their leg and then slugs them out!
