network cards

    i am upgrading my broadband to 8MB will i need to upgrad the network card ??? i have the 10/100 right now

    You're confusing network card with modem.

    Or are you worried that the network card connecting your computer to your router will need upgrading?

    The answer anyway is no, it won't.

    He's actually asking a valid question, although one with a obvious answer.

    No, you don't need to. Until you get a line with speeds that exceed 100 Mbits / second (that's MegaBITS, not MegaBYTES), you won't need to change your network card to something faster; the bottleneck will still be your internet access's speed. For residential purposes; 10/100 ethernet cards will still be sufficient for a long while.

    Now if you're thinking about running your own server farm, you might start worrying. But then, you'd probably know more about networking than I do.

    Almost exactly what I would have said. 10/100 enet cards will be more than fine for a long time to come.
