Where's the best place to buy an External HD? Ideally portable (no mains required - powered off USB) Large capacity - nothing under 250gb - ideally 500+ Decent make (seagate, etc?) Am happy to import from HK, maybe slips can help me here.... Looking this reasonably quick....
Here's a decent looking one... and only £70... Good luck. http://www.nextag.com/Beyond-Micro-...rices-html?nxtg=82ee0a240523-408048E57EDF8B48

pc world is a big no no , they are over priced , over rated and altogether a useless shop .. they prey on thoose who dont know about computers ... they are the real only retial pc shop around so everyone automatically goes there and pays whatever they say.. for instance there repair center , they cahrge HIGH!!! prices for very small jobs which even if you didnt know how to do , a quick google search can lead you to a step by step guide they cahrge to physically put RAm into your machine , this is taking the case off your machine and clipping in a card in to the only place it will fit into , this should be a free service as there is no labour time and no skill needed End Rant ! p.s i hate pc world! so yah back to the question search on computerstores online www.overclockers.co.uk www.dabs.com www.falconcomputers.co.uk
I eneded up using amazon. Went for a 500gb seagate and a 16gb flash drive for my portable allowance. And i used the map link, so map gained too
500Gb - That's huge! I am also looking into getting an external drive. Does anyone know what the average file size of an MP3 music track is or an average album?
500g aint that big , im about to buy a 1TB internal as i have about 750 gb which is full up that is a good price for an external HDD with regards to the mp3 question a single track isnt big at all and depends on the size of the song your talking anywhere from 1mb to 6mb
When mobile phone makers show off the specs of their phones they boast about how many songs it can hold and they use the average of 3.5MB - though of course this all depends on length and compression used amongst other things.
I just wondered because if I got one, it would be to back up current/future MP3's and photos. I've really no idea what sort of capacity would be required/advisable.
If your wanting to back up Files and mp3s , your best bet is to get a Usb Flash Drive ( USB KEY) you can pick them up pretty cheap . i saw an advertisment on muy highstreet , 2 gig for £10 Just check Computer sites for them you will find some cheap ones.. i suggest no smaller than 1gig Dont go to PC world !!!!
