All I have had a right bad shoulder for about 6 months now, and can't fully do any weights. I get a pain at the front of my shoulder(left side just above the length of the collar bone area) like someone putting a knife in it. I have been told it might be the rotator cuff? I have rested it etc, but it is still there. When i do boxing/press ups etc it is fine, yet as soon as i touch a weight(light or heavy)/do a pull up or dip, its excruciating. Any one got any ideas on what to do. I admit i havent been to the doctors yet,as i think he might just say rest it, which i have. Could do with a few ideas, as im starting to get a bit frustrated.
Go to a proper physio/doctor and dont rely on people on the net who may or may not give you dodgy advice. Chronic Injuries should be dealt with by a professional.
Agreed. That said, I'm gonna be hypocritical and say that after rest, perhaps some rotator-cuff specific exercises may help. But definitely see a sports physio...
I also agree. U definitely have to see a specialist. First of all, 5 persons here might give u 5 different diagnoses, and none of them have to be true. So, see a specialist!!!! Many people who r into sports think that when the Doc says they have to rest, they have to be in bed all the time. Wrong!!!! If u need to rest, that means that ur shoulder needs rest and maybe therapy and I don't know what else. But ur body doesn't consist of ur shoulder alone, right? There r plenty of other things u can do, i.e. exercise other parts of ur body. If ur shoulder needs to rest, there is no need that all other muscles in ur body rest too. I wish u the best of luck and hope u recover soon
i would definelty go to a doctor something could severly be wrong trust me on that. like when my mom broke her pinky she didnt go to the doctor and now its like deformed so don't wait go see a doctor asap
Definitely see a doctor or sports physiologist. Don't take a chance on it getting worse due to neglect or incorrect advice. I had shoulder injuries, both sides; had to do physical therapy, then at-home exercises -- it helped a lot. You need to get recommendations tailored to your own specific situation.
Speaking from experience with 2 torn rotator cuffs, it sounds like that's what's wrong. Took a year or more just to get the pain down to tolerable levels when lifting for me. Also, if it is the rotator cuff it will always bug you. I'd reccomend seeing a doc though.
