I've just set up an email account and I'm trying to use outlook with it. When I open outlook, I get popup saying "unable to open your default email folders. Could not open them. Try again later" followed by another saying "Would you like to open your default file system folder instead". The instructions I was given were "STEP 1: Click tools | email accounts, however I cannot find this under the tools menu. Help
It may be hidden. Try: Tools | Customise | Options | tick "Always show full menus" If you still can't find it after that, you can always access it through: Control Panel | Mail | Email Accounts Hope this helps.
I presume that you mean Outlook and not Outlook Express. It sounds very much like you've set up your Outlook to connect to an Exchange Server that isn't there, not a POP3 account. The message you describe is the exact one you get when your Outlook can't connect to the Exchange Server. Different versions of Outlook have different methods of fixing the problem. What version of Outlook is it?
Its sorted now.. he asked me on MSN about it. The email account hadn't been configured, and since Tools > Email Accounts wasn't there, JCH went into the Mail icon in Control Panel and did it there.
