Wow, Goldstar video sound awesome, do they rent lots of good videos? :ban:

  3. Osu FOD,

It could be the angle of the camera, or maybe a strange position of the wall light switch and door ****, but you look really short on some of the videos... :D:D

    Osu!

I prefer the low bar position to the high bar one for back squats.

Nice! I love the way you fix your hair before lifting! ;) :D

Two things on the 1st vid:

    1) Watch out for tucking under at the bottom of the ROM. I still do it and I'm working on trying to fix it. If you go heavy whilst doing that you do run the risk of hurting your lower back - possibly quite badly.

    2) Less seriously - The gym at work has just purchased the exact same squat rack you are using!

KB swings helped me with the tucking, something to do with the stretching and strengthening of the hammys while doing them.

VZ also told me to drop to where it tucks and squeeze the crap out of the hams and adductors which helped loosen them before a set.

yup, isometrically holding the tucking point is a good one. my posterior chain is being worked on (a bit :p), but i suspect my problem is actually weak hip flexors, judging by how the tightness is distributed at that point. one good one i've found is using it as a full iso stretch: get to that point just before tucking, tighten up, hold for a while, then relax, drop a bit, fix posture and repeat.

ok, no idea where to put this really, but i did it for fun and for fitness (as seen in the video, i need to reduce le gut a bit, although i have the excuse that i was super bloated due to chocolate milk :p). just some random strings of (non-practicality-oriented) techniques i went and did on a whim, and decided to film on a whim halfway through. should do this more often. like, every day :p

also need stronger hip flexors and hamstrings, i'm letting my back round and my knees drop all over the place.

seeing if i could still do fingertip OAPs (i couldn't). i'm going to require some serious retraining.

To help keep the thread going, Gary and I recorded some vids. The first is me doing pistols (alternating left - right). I'm very new to these, so if anyone notices me doing something wrong, please speak up!

The other two are because we're following a linear progression plan with our farmer's walks (for now) and have just had our first workout at the magic 100kg milestone. In total we did 3x3 100ft laps of the garden (50ft there and 50ft back).

Lucky you! My first ever time picking up farmers handles was 100kg (each hand) and that was in competition! No preside there then.

Pistols are looking great, keep wondering if I should start working them in but I'm too immature to care about stuff that doesn't have a big metal thing involved.

Will bring the camera to the new gym tomorrow, show you how my current training is looking.

The armour provides a fair bit of resistance which makes it harder. I'm also carrying a slight right shoulder injury from wrestling last night. I'd say this is 2 less than my normal sets. I currently weigh 81 Kg and the gear will be 3Kg.

Note that one of my training partners can't resist mooching into the shot. :)
