Or even 'new people you kinda know' for the first time. Is there any specific ettiqutte to follow? Is an uncomfortable, shoe shuffling 'how's it going' sufficient? A wall shaking bellow of 'Hey, yer uglier in person' more in order? Or does it depend on your personality type and cultural area?

I think "Hey, your uglier than I thought you'd be!!" followed by and great big hug and a couple fake punches to the gut would suffice. :D

For a more serious answer Id say that it depends on the person your meeting and your personality. I dont think you can get sin binned for not greating a person properly. :D

Something I've wondered about too I admit... While I don't like the idea of uncomfortable shoe shuffling, let me assure you that a shout of 'Hey, yer uglier in person' will NOT go down well :p

    A firm hand shake
A sudden look in the eye
    With an easy smile

It really depends on the people you are meeting to be honest. When i first went down to Cardiff it took me Kgirl and Morphus a few minutes chatting before we really started to feel comfortable with each other. On the other hand when i went up to ScotMAP and met Freeform it was like we had known each other for a while. Its really a take it as it comes type thing

When you guys and gals have met, has it been to socialise or train? I think it depends on that...

i have met two members, and one ex member(!) from here, all who have been very cool; even managed to ponce a lift of them. It was all training though, but very pleasant training...

Watch out to those of you going to GNAMM next year then, because barring any unforseen injurys on my part, there will be much tackling :D

Any of you can feel free to tackle me, I'm a strong lad so I'll be fine. :)

I've had this situation before with some of the non-martial arts related message boards, its normally odd for about 30 seconds, then I'm over it. But thats just how I am, I dont get nervous often unless I'm getting pulled over.

But thats because we just fell into a West coast/East coast slagging match right away ;)

Although I never got to guess who was Andy and who was Fraser, Fluffy went and spoiled it for me :(

And when I met Yoda I said,

"I thought your stick would be bigger than that." :D

I didn't really, I said that to him in my own head where I actually have the guts to do it ;)

man I'd love to go over to the UK and meet a bunch of you, could accomplish a bunch of goals.

    1. a chance to exp. the UK as a whole.
    2. A chance to meet more martial artists
    3. Maybe go see a taping of Top Gear.

How much time do you think I would need for a trip like that?

So be it, tackling at 20 paces it is!

Or maybe a nice high kick to check reflexes???

    Hehehe, my version of tackling:

Backing away 50 paces, run full tilt, slam into the MAPer,...

And bounce off and fly backwards at least half the distance that i've backed up.

Funny thing is that really happens to me, well not as exxaggeratively but a few times when i was running through the halls some one, usually a big guy steps out from nowhere and the next i know, i'm starin' at the ceiling, 7 paces away. While the guy only gets a small person bounce off their chest and are now staring at a half-concious senior who's easily mistaken as a freshman lying sprawled on the floor.

I'm surprised that i never got any concussions.
