I train in ****o Ryu kobudo (under instructors trained by Shihan Crosswell) with the traditional 6 foot staff. Thanks for reading my little journal here.
This is a good starter: http://www.karatekobudo.com/kobudo/kobudohistory.htm My style of kobudo, to be more specific, is kenshin-ryu. Here is the page of my dojo's website which discusses it: http://azbudokan.com/history-kobudo.htm
More weapons stuff today. Batto ho patterns and staff patterns. Also some jump rope for cardio. Too hot to have much fun.
Got my weapons practice done early today to avoid the heat. Then hit the gym for legs and back work/cardio. Did a lot of calf work because I found that to be a weak spot for me on Monday.
Went over Tenshin Happo 1-4 in the dojo tonight. I will prepare all of them as best as possible for next week, though. This morning I did my usual weapons and open hand practice. Tonight I found that I am not doing as well at karate as I'd like to, so I'm doing more karate to prepare for next week. Shinkendo was canceled because senesi David couldn't come this week.
Heavy on arms work today, posterior and anterior biceps especially. Also continuing my ceaseless endeavor to strengthen up my under-developed calves. Did some sword and staff afterward, but will have to finish later when it cools down. Just now found out my gym is closed on Monday for the holiday.
Anyway...as for today, too hot to do much except for sword and staff outside. When it cools down I'll be doing more karate and jump rope.
Indeed. I'll not make that error again. You'd think after years of doing tricep presses, bicep curls, and all manner of things I wouldn't make that mistake...but stuff happens. :bang:
Good day so far. No major aches/pains. Started with sword-Batta Ho's and Happo Giri. Then staff technique no's 1-3. Then a few minutes of jump rope. Then back in for Tenshin Happo 1-7. If there's time later, I'll work on katas and longfist.
