Another poll on sherdog - Hughes is 64% to 36% favourite. Still, 36% is not bad for someone who, like akja said, most MMA insiders don't give a hope in hell.

You're mistaken. Bravo always has a day's delay so their editing monkeys get time to chop out the all the ads and try to make Mike Goldberg disappear using only the power of their minds
How's that? The PPV price over there works out costing more than my monthy Sky subscription does. They get it first, we get it *much cheaper* since it's not technically free. Personally, since my direct debit goes out the day I get paid, I pretty much do consider it free since I never see the money that I spend on my subscription
Of course they're not, they're a business. The point is, in this instance, the UK viewer comes off slightly better. It's a major rarity, so you'll forgive me for enjoying it :)

I'm officially picking "Royce Gracie by submission". When he wins, I'll be the first on this thread saying "I told you so". (If he loses, you can throw tomatoes at me!) :D

I finally saw the PPV build-up show. Pretty neat to see the sort of "TMA vs MMA" attitude in the discussion. Even weirder to see Royce being biled as the TMA guy, even though he really was one of the fathers of modern MMA. I can see the reasons, but think it's sort of ironic. I really want the "specialist" Gracie to whip the new breed-generalist-MMA guy. :D :D

    Can't wait!!!!!!!!

That's because back when the ufc first started it really was a style against a style. Royce uses one style, thus he is a tma. Oh yeah, back in those days the ufc was much more interesting to watch. I should refine that statement to the stand-ups were more interesting.

lol server guess thats one of way of looking at it i suppose. Didnt see never happened right? bit of a corrupt cop attitude

Internet off limits for me defintely tommrow i cudnt resist and checked the randy and chuck fight which kinda ruined it for me since i was rooting for randy. All i can say is GO Gracie GO nothing would make me happier than to see a 39yr old with no stand up beat down on the current champ :D :D

What exactly is your problem, mate?
If it's such a big thing for you, I will recant the statement: UFC60 is NOT free for UK viewers, it is merely part of a bog-standard monthly subscription which costs about half the price of the US PPV. Having a laugh with an American member over this matter was wrong of me. Happy?
As for the fight, after seeing the weigh in pics, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the odds on Gracie winning shrink even further. He's got a reach advantage, but Hughes' arms are bigger than Gracie's legs! I'm still picking Hughes by snoozefest decision, but I've laid £10 on Gracie just in case he wins - big payday if he does :D

    my 2 pence ...

Most people I know ( including myself) really want Royce to win, mainly for old times sake ,but also for other reasons. Many people were put off by Hughes attitude in the last TUF.

However ,Royces' standup is unbelievably bad, and from the clips I've seen he hasn't improved much since that shocking display all those years ago against Sak.
Good flexibilty does not always equal great kicks.

On paper Hughes has it ,but I'm rooting for Royce to pull out a clock choke on squareface.

If anyone is going to beat hughes its a submission expert - noone is going to outwrestle him and he's while his striking may not be fantastic he's stood with very good strikers and they've not been able to put him away.

I think Royce, like most of the UFC originals has not really evolved his game so i doubt he's going to be able to stop Hughes - my prediction.....Hughes by referee stoppage from GnP.

It actually started as a kimura, but turned into a straight armbar, and YEAH, I can't believe he didn't tap to that. My elbow almost broke just watching it![/EXPAND]

[EXPAND="Spoilers"]The fight proves a few things-

    A. Fighting and fighters have definetely evolved.
    B. Matt Hughes rocks
    C. Royce has an unbelievable amount of mental strength, he didn't even blink when Matt had the armbar in, talk about willpower/concentration

I wonder if Royce will ever step back into the ring? I know he said he will, but will it be a legitamate fight?

Either way Hughes dominated but Royce showed why he is a legend.[/EXPAND]

[EXPAND="Spoilers"]matt hughes is in his prime, gracie was in his prime 11-12 years ago. the fight was kind of dissapointing, he got out of that crazy arm bar, but he really didnt have a chance. i feel bad for royce gracie, i really wanted him to win but i knew he wouldnt. he said he'd fight again but i kind of dont want him to, he'd have to fight someone worse then matt hughes, and i dont want to see him lose to another person. maybe he could fight shamrock after tito beats him up next month, that would be a good fight.[/EXPAND]

[EXPAND="Spoilers"]Royce shouldnt have wasted time training in kickboxing. He cant kick, and it didnt help him at all in this fight.

I think I will pretend this fight never happned, and just keep idolizing the way he beat everyone down 10 years ago.[/EXPAND]

Just a quick note, guys - the card doesn't air in the UK until tonight, and I believe there's a delay in a few other countries too. Could you please use the very handy spoiler tag tool?
