Southpaw getting to grips with double Paralympic Champion Ian Rose during Mushroom's wrestling session.

Nice to see Ian actually joining a session this year.

Ian gave a really nice speech and was so thankful that so much money was raised for the charity that basically saved his life.

You should all be so proud.

Did the first video this morning and the soundtrack didn't get through copyright, so it was muted.

I'll have to do it again with a different soundtrack.

Rather than one long video I'll break it down into sections.

First one will be FMA Edged Weapons.

Can someone tell me who this young lady is, as she's my new hero.

Why? because just before this she smacked Bassai in the face, that's why. :D

Thank you to Simon for organising yet another fantastic multi-discipline charity martial arts day.

Those who have been in the past know that the High Wycombe Judo Centre is a great venue. It has a huge matted area, proper changing rooms, a seated area where people taking a break can watch classes, a bar for post training socialising, ample parking and good rail links in the town to London, the midlands and the north.

The venue contributes to the atmosphere, but it's the people who really make it. There was an open, friendly and enthusiastic buzz throughout the day. I've been to a lot of seminars in the UK and abroad and the atmosphere at MAP is always unique. The quality of the instruction (and talent amongst the students) was humbling. The pain of having to choose between the instructors was visceral. With MAP paying for the venue, getting such high quality instruction for free is a unique opportunity, and it was a privilege to train knowing that through our donations we were helping make a difference to such a worthy charity.

I know we will be setting the date of the next one soon. I know that it will be a fantastic opportunity whatever your skill level or martial interest. I hope that it is something that you'll all prioritise in your diaries.

My honest feelings are that I'm humbled.

Despite how I come across here, or how I am organising people at the MAP Meet, I am quite a private person with just a close group of friends.

I'm sure many of you have been to seminars and noticed how there are groups of people, generally from the same art, that stick together and don't mix.

MAP Meets aren't like that. Friends are made instantly and we all contribute to making the event work. It is definitely a group effort.

Instructors take a second session at the last minute due to demand. Slots are re-arranged to best suit everyone's needs, students (we're all students on the day) help each other with technique, names and numbers are exchanged and fun is had.

It would be nice to take the meets around the country, but this venue really is good and road and rail links make it so accessible.

We already have an agreement that we can hire the venue again next year at this year's rates.

This is because it is a charity, non profit making event.

If you guys and girls want the same again next year I may even be persuaded to organise it.

That's one of my dragged-along attendees - not a MAP member, but I can forward the post to her to let her know!

    Here's the first video.

I've left the sound in this year so you can hear some of the instruction and the laughs too.

First cip from Aaron's MMA Session.

You Tube is misbehaving today. This is set a public, but tells me it's private, so hopefully you'll see it.

I like this clip. Nicely demonstrated.

It is with sad regret we announce the demise of Mascarenhas.

We tried to revive him. No we really did.

    I like this shot.

The black and white, with a hint of blur make this a nice action shot.

Good work from the Krav Maga guys during Unreal Combat's session.

A massive thanks for organising this. Me and Diz had a great time meeting the faces behind the forum, sharing knowledge, and picking up new tricks :) Many new friends made, and already looking forward to the next one.

It was a pleasure to meet everyone yesterday. I had a great time. Here's my pictures from the day. Thought it would be easier to upload to YouTube as there are so many.

    [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLyk3-NdNJk"]YouTube[/ame]

If anyone would like me to send them the shots as JPEGs, please let me know, it would be a pleasure.

    Cheers,

    James

    James,

The video is marked as private.

Thank you for being part of the day and taking so many shots.

I would appreciate them as JPEGs, as I can add them to the videos I do.

My email is in my signature.

I can post you a DVD in a SAE if it's a better option.
