The second category for the 2004 MAP Awards is “Most Informative Thread”. Which thread has been the most useful to you? Which one has the most/best information?

Post your nominations here. Once again, the thread has to have been created in 2004, by a current member of MAP (with an active account), and not by anyone who is now an admin or global mod. You’ll get to vote on this one next week (you can vote for "Funniest Post" this week).

    Read about the awards here:

Have fun! Let the nominating begin!

I would like to nominate Matt_Bernius in general. Specifically:

This one has it all... and in a reasoned, experienced, mature manner from all involved,
    I would nominate this thread:
“Map Essay – Defence Against Knives” #6,20,44,48,63
    http://www.martialartsplanet.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9014

    And these as well:

"Gun as a Self Defence Tool…”
    http://www.martialartsplanet.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22149

    “Reality Check…” #60,86,92,95

This thread didn't deal with martial arts, but I found it very informative and useful: 'Why the Democrats Lost?'. I always thought that people who voted Bush were all ignorant red necked hicks, and while I still disagree with them it was great to communicate directly with republican americans (especially those who I've discussed MAs with before, and found to be agreeable and intelligent). It was good to get an insight into the other side and see they are not all idiots. They're still wrong though!

Read them all. He develops excellent ideas about MMA and the transition to self defense. Plus a lot of good TMA points in there!

He's got a bunch of other great stuff.

More nominations to come in a bit. I'm still searching.

Great nominations so far, folks. Let's keep them coming!

Just as a point of information (sorry if I didn't make this clear), this award is for the whole thread, not individual posts, so it will be the starter of the winning thread who gets the award. :D

I personally found welsh warriors initial post to Why Traditional Karate is Not Effective for Self Defence as a good starter. I have enjoyed reading the banter and fountain of opinions. I appreciate the article isn't his but it personally meant a lot to me - hence why I found it so informative. :)

I too will jump in with another biased nomination for a thread I found to be for me extremely informative... so much so that I just absorbed much of the info contained for once without even posting to it! :)

My nomination goes to Thomas for Practical TKD Self Defense Tips

Ohhhhh. No, that was not at all clear to me. I actually didn't know that at all. I've been thinking of individual posts, not threads.

    Oops on me.

In that case, I amend my nomination above to the entire thread in which it is found: "Broadsword vs. Spear," http://www.martialartsplanet.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17708&page=1&pp=15

And I nominate the "Coming to God!" thread, http://www.martialartsplanet.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19204&page=1&pp=15.
