Hi, Does anyone out there own a Shureido makiwara? Please note NOT the type with the base where the practitioner stands on a wooden platform. I'm taking about the one that sits between two pieces of steel that allows it to be bolted to a concrete floor. Im having the base custom made but the welder seems to think the front piece of steel is not welded to the base. He suspects the front piece acts like a clamp / vice by being bolted to the rear welded piece thereby holding the wooden post in place. It's quite hard to tell by the pics. I suspect he is correct . I just want confirmation. Would appreciate your input adap. Cheers Laksa
