MA are evil?

I was talking to a guy who said Martial Arts are of the devil. I asked him why, he said because martial artists call on spirits to posess them and make them make them better fighters.
Is there any truth to his claim, or should i write him off as an idiot?

There is some "truth" to the claim (in so far that some cultures do believe in such things, including participants in the Boxer Rebellion and in certain dances in Indonesia, if memory serves).

None of which indicates, for one moment, that the person in question is anything other than an idiot.

I remember that there was at least one quite long thread on this subject a few years ago. Might be worth doing a search if you're interested, although I'm sure you'll find that the 'jokey' posts outnumbered the serious ones! But I think there were some serious points raised if you really interested in the subject.
