OT then. Dags, Could you give us some more details about the Dojo you recommended please? Specifically the style of Jujutsu taught and it's background, the OP was after a traditional style after all so I think this would help them, if they are still around and interested, and others.
hahaha very true yes i agree was just trying to be helpfull when this person replies in an idiotic way!
And of course your response wasn't idiotic or unhelpful at all. So let's keep it all on topic then. Could you give use some more info on your club.
Final Mod warning: Get this back on topic, stop sniping at each other and realise that trying to get the last word in with a dig at someone after a mod warning is likely to lead to action being taken against you. The mods are getting a little fed up with the childish nature of some people on here. Once a mod has stepped in you do not need to keep taking pot shots at someone and doing so will be viewed as ignoring the warning.
moving on ok lets move on...the club style of jjj is Hontai Yoshin Ryu,the club is new opened in may of last year. It is a very traditional form and is not for everyone because of the hard throws involved! I personally have taken bjj and muay thai...love both arts but theres something different about jjj could be that its the mother art i guess!
Just to be clear is it the koryu Hontai Yoshin Ryu or is it some form of gendai Budo or western developed system of the same name?
I honestly couldnt tell you but my master gained his knowledge from Professor Clark in Liverpool,it is based on the world Ju-Jitsu federation system...that is all I know!
Good luck with that He trained initially with Blundell who has an exceptionally sketchy lineage at best. From there on it gets even muddier. The WJJF style is a mish-mash. Even it doesn't lay claim to any authentic lineage. And before you chirp up I trained in it for over 3 years from 92-95
Oh dear. I believe it should be Inoue Kyoichi Munenori. Certainly not a chap from the UK. Dags, This discussion is about to get a bit sticky for you and it may benefit you to research what a Koryu is and isn't. You might find this interesting. http://www.e-budo.com/forum/showthread.php?t=33012 and then there is this: http://www11.plala.or.jp/hyrhonbu/index.html You'll note it shows the recognised branches world wide.
Ha, I was just going to link the "Modern Hojutsu" thread for why Clark shouldn't use the term Soke at all, then point out that, if that's in relation to Hontai Yoshin Ryu, I might send word to Inoue Soke through someone here....
Not that there's anything wrong with the ******* styles: I train and teach one myself. I don't claim that it's a koryu school though. Gendai through and through!
Exactly - I do JKD, the mongrel of all mongrels! The worry I have when a modern style claims an old lineage that is not true is what else isn't true? And why the need to hide things?
